Capcom is known for their epic crossovers, but no one would ever believed that the best from Capcom would go two on two against the best from Namco. Street Fighter X Tekken is the newest hit crossover fighting game developed by Capcom. This is a unique fighting game that put the top two fighting franchises against one another. Gamers can decide which series is better, Street Fighter or Tekken. This game was one of the most anticipated fighting game in 2012. But can this new crossover live up the hype?
Capcom is usually not known for have stories for their crossover games, but it’s different in Street Fighter X Tekken. In Street Fighter X Tekken, there is a mysterious object falls into earth holding a special unknown power. The box is referred to as “Pandora”. Many people have grown interest in the power of Pandora and have set off to retrieve it. To be honest, this is a simple storyline. Basically, the story is about people who fights each other to gain the power of Pandora. The story is not as depth as other fighting games such as Mortal Kombat, but it new, it short and it’s straight to the point. Some fighters even have their own into and ending. The story may be basic and simple, but I like it.
Street Fighter X Tekken is the typical crossover tag team game that allows the players to choose characters from different brands and fight. Unlike most Capcom crossovers, the game is design around the Tekken battle system. The game involves two on two tag battles similar to Tekken Tag Tournament. Also like Tekken, if you defeat one of your opponent’s fighters, you win the round. The fact that you can lose a round because one of your character is defeated can be frustrating, but it forces the player to think more critical about their next move. The tagging in Street Fighter X Tekken is on point, it allows the player to attack their opponents with tag team combos. The gems can give a boost to your characters depending on your setup. I find the Gems to be helpful in a tight situation. The battle system can be easy for beginners to get in to.
I enjoy the graphics in Street Fighter X Tekken. You can tell that the graphics are influenced by Capcom. I’ve always been a fan of Capcom’s art and graphic’s. The character’s graphic have an anime style combine with cel-shading. This is similar to the graphics in Street Fighter 4. I enjoy looking at the cut-scenes in arcade mode. Other than that, there’s nothing else to say but this game has some good visuals for a fighting game.
The music in Street Fighter X Tekken are enjoyable to listen but easily forgettable. The voice of the characters are either in American or Japanese. The cool part is that you can customized the character’s voice to be any language.
Final Verdict

Overall, Capcom did a fine job with Street Fighter X Tekken. As a casual player, I found this game to be good for beginners like myself. It’s enjoyable to play and it has a good re-play value. If you are a fan of Capcom or Namco, then this game is for you. Let see how Namco Bandai will do on Tekken X Street Fighter. Until next time, “Be Easy and Stay Epic!”
